What is Affygility Solutions' search strategy?
The Affygility Solutions’ expert toxicologists performs an extensive scientific database search. Utilizing both the chemical name and CAS number as the primary search parameter, an extensive list of governmental and proprietary databases are searched. We have other search parameters that are used, but these techniques are proprietary to Affygility Solutions.
Example databases searched include: Drugs.com, ChemIDplus, Reprotox, Martindale – The Complete Drug Reference, National Toxicology Program (NTP), International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), Chemical Carcinogenesis Research Information System (CCRIS) and PubMed. In addition, the USFDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research site is searched for NDA filings, and the EMA’s Public Assessment reports. There are many other databases that we use, but that list is confidential. However if we used the data in a report, that specific source is reported.
Finally, the SDS from the innovator company is reviewed. However, since the SDS may not present the sources of their information, caution is used to evaluate the credibility of the information.
The goal of the search strategy is to identify relevant critical toxicological endpoints, including results of genotoxic assays, results of carcinogenic, developmental and reproductive studies, pharmacological properties, and reported adverse health effects from preferably long term studies. In addition, an understanding of the mechanism of action is also desirable.
